Bookkeeping Team Leader

Our goal at Specialty Bookkeepers is to partner with passionate business owners by specializing in the books, so that they can focus on what they do best: growing their businesses. We are looking to hire a Bookkeeping Team Leader for a long-term remote position, working 35-40 hours per week. 

This position provides a flexible schedule, but the majority of your work will be performed between 8:00 am -5:00 pm MST and must be your first priority in terms of work/employment. You will be unable to work full-time elsewhere and satisfactorily complete the duties required of this position (i.e., it’s not a side hustle). 

Responsibilities – Manage the performance of your bookkeeping time and the financials of all of your team’s financials. This includes (but not limited to):

  • Overseeing the creation, delegation, and timely completion of all tasks for your clients
  • Ensure timely response to client questions and concerns
  • Identify process issues or gaps in communication or processes with clients’ accounting
  • Drive the timely delivery of monthly financial statements
  • Prepare monthly review videos of client financials
  • Manage the onboarding and training of clients onto SBK systems, processes, and procedures
  • Manage a team of up to 4 other bookkeepers, providing feedback, guidance, and constructive criticism
  • Serve as primary liaison between clients and SBK
  • Ensure SBK standards and processes are adhered to
  • Other duties as assigned


  • High degree of customer service, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 2 years minimum experience in managing 100% of a client’s financials.
  • Must be able to problem-solve. Learning new programs and problem-solving issues is imperative.
  • Proficient with technology; solid knowledge of computer operations and software.
  • Must have (or be willing to obtain) a dedicated secure internet connection.
  • Must have a quiet, clean, and visually professional environment/workspace for video calls, client meetings, etc.
  • Strong customer service skills – the ability to interact with customers through video and audio tools in a way that is professional, friendly, and reassuring.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Must be located in the United States or Canada.
  • Travel to semi-annual in-person team retreats. Locations for in-person team meetings will vary.

  • ClickUp
  • Gusto

The Perks, Performance, and the Pay:

  • The starting pay for this position is $24/hr.
  • This  position will average 35-40 hours per week.
  • This position provides a flexible schedule. You will be expected to work primarily between 8:oo am-5:00 pm MST, but are encouraged to fit in errands, kid pickups, doctor appointments, or anything else around your work schedule.
